GLSS is the Home Care Agency that serves Saugus Seniors. GLSS works with the Saugus Council on Aging to provide delivery of hot meals, assistance with homecare, and transportation for qualified seniors. There are also specialized services for seniors in need.

Saugus Council on Aging

The purpose of the Council is to promote, foster, sponsor and maintain social activities and support services for the benefit of all senior citizens, sixty years and over, who are residents of the Town of Saugus. The Saugus Senior Center is administered by its Director and a Board of Directors. Each member of the Board is appointed by the Town Manager and approved by a majority vote of the Board of Selectmen for a term of three years. All meetings of the Board which are held on the second Monday of the month at 7PM at the Senior Center and are open to the public. For information call: 231-4178.

The Saugus Senior Center, located at 466 Central Street, welcomes all senior citizens of the Town of Saugus. The building is handicapped accessible. The center through its director offers a wide variety of programs and activities on a daily and weekly basis. Through its monthly newsletter, calendar call, and Cable TV all programs and events are listed on a daily basis. The center has an outreach program going into homes assisting Seniors with insurance forms, medical inquiries, fuel assistant, legal aid and more.

For those who are house bound medical transportation, meals on wheels, and many health screening programs are available. The Center also hosts a M-F lunch site on the premises starting at 11:30 AM. Also supplied for Seniors are Thursday bus trips to Square One Mall (from home locations) and Tuesday grocery trips to Stop & Shop from designated bus stops.
